Setting the stage

Bhagvad Gita is the name of the book which contains the recitals that fell from the lips of Lord Krishna about 5000 years ago. It is the conversation between two persons namely Arjuna who himself was a prince and Lord Krishna. The conversation was heard by Sanjay, the minister of the King of Hastinapur, who narrated it to his Master Dhritarashtra. The discourse between Arjuna and Lord Krishna was written by Lord Ganesha to whom the conversation was being dictated by Rishi Vyasa. Vyasa had offered Dhritarashtra to have the sight in his eyes so that he may have the first hand knowledge of the war which was to be waged between his sons known as Kauravas on one hand and the Pandavas on the other. Dhritarashtra refused to accept the offer for the obvious reason that he was not inclined to see the defeat of his own sons i.e. Kauravas.
